On Doctor's Day, we recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our dedicated physicians at Joseph Brant Hospital. This day is not just an occasion for acknowledgment; it’s a reflection of the immense respect and admiration we hold for those who commit their lives to healing and caring for others.

Today, we are featuring Dr. Nandita Batchra, a well-known Otolaryngology (ENT) specialist at Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH). She shares her experiences in the field of ENT, expressing her passion for her profession and detailing how she manages to find a balance between her roles as a mother and a physician.

“I chose to pursue a career in medicine for several reasons: I have always had a passion for science combined with desire to make a positive impact on people's lives.”

As an ENT surgeon, Dr. Batchra enjoys the perfect blend of the medical and surgical management of patients, which involves daily problem solving and critical thinking to promote health and improve lives.

“Medicine is ever-evolving, and it is exciting to learn about new advances.”

Navigating the responsibilities of a medical career while maintaining a busy personal life can pose significant challenges for physicians. Nonetheless, Dr. Batchra emphasizes the significance of cultivating a strong personal support network to navigate the uncertainties inherent in the field.

“I try to establish boundaries between my home and work life,” she said. “I have two beautiful children, and they have always been supportive and understanding of my professional responsibilities.”

She encourages other physicians looking to find work-life balance to prioritize their own well-being as diligently as patient care.

“Self-care is important for sustaining passion and effectiveness in both your professional and personal life. Be aware of personal supports and don't be afraid to use them when you need help.”

To Dr. Batchra and all our amazing physicians who go above and beyond for their patients every day, thank you for your invaluable contributions to healthcare. Today, we celebrate you and the impact you make on the health of our community.
