For Jennifer, Joseph Brant Hospital has been a part of her life since day one.

“My mother was born here, as was I, my brother and my two children. I actually also met my husband here, too!”

Born and raised in Burlington, a career at Joseph Brant Hospital was an easy choice for Jen. Living in the downtown core, she walks to and from work every day, avoiding a grid-locked commute.

“I actually turned down a full-time offer of employment elsewhere to take a part-time job at JBH,” she said “I was lucky that my role turned into a full-time one shortly after I started.”

She began her nursing career 14 years ago in complex and palliative care, eventually moving to working in the Emergency Department (ED). She currently works as a Professional Practice Educator in the ED, supporting staff with education, orientation and liaising with corporate staff to develop and review policies and procedures.

“The amazing team in the ED has kept me here for 14 years and made those years fly by,” she said “Our ED is special because it’s truly an environment of teamwork and not only from nursing staff but clerks, PSWs and patient care service staff.”
