Black History Month is an opportunity for our hospital, all organizations and all individuals across the country, to recognize and honour the past and present contributions of Black Canadians. Throughout the month we will be sharing stories from our staff and physicians as they reflect on what Black History Month means to them.

Read Lisa's reflection below.

"For me, I associate Black History Month with: celebration, reflection and hope.

Celebration, for the significant strides made by black persons in this country and around the world.

Reflection, on the challenges and struggles faced by my ancestors and so many persons still today.

Hope, for young persons that they continue to move forward with a sense of purpose and belief that barriers are there to be broken, and hope that we as a community continue to embrace the diversity that is around us."
