During National Nurses Week, we celebrate and highlight the important work of our nurses in providing compassionate, quality care to our patients. Below, we spotlight Justine Walker, who is currently the Professional Practice Educator (PPE) for Acute Medicine/Telemetry.

“I have always had a passion for helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives,” she said. “Nursing seemed like the perfect fit for me and I haven’t regretted a single day since.”

She appreciates the flexibility and versatility of the nursing profession and the opportunities that exist within the Burlington community.

“Starting from consolidation student, to frontline staff, to charge nurse, to now – I have worked hard to get to where I am today – working on a master’s degree while raising a child and also being passionate about my career in hopes of inspiring someone else one day!”

In her current position as a PPE, Justine fulfills a diverse array of responsibilities including coaching and teaching staff to meet learning goals and uphold best practices, creating unit-specific and corporate education programs, onboarding new hires, overseeing student placements, and shaping corporate policies in line with best practices.

“I am thankful to be supported by the organization to achieve my personal and professional goals.”

Since working at JBH, Justine has enjoyed the relationships she has been able to build with other nurses at the hospital. Teamwork in nursing is the cornerstone of quality patient care. It involves collaboration, communication, and mutual respect among nurses, as well as with other healthcare professionals.

“Nursing is a collaborative profession that involves support, and I am lucky to have an amazing team alongside me!”

Thank you for all you do!
